The Seventh/Trinity Methodist Church was organized on June 7, 1851. The Rev. Garner R. Snyder, the first pastor, wrote to friends that he had received an appointment without a church. The Sunday School first met under a tree where the church was later built. The chapel was first to be built in 1851.

The first service held in the new church, was the funeral service for its then pastor, Rev. J. K. Shaw who died on October 4, 1858. Merged with First Methodist in 1924.
