"The Four Chaplains" recalled by Jules Spohn

St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church was organized in 1888. The church was formerly the home of the Roseville Methodist Church. The original church services were held in the old skating rink at Orange and Sixth Streets for a year. A church was built at Orange and Gray streets, which was used for only three years. Another church was bought on October 14, 1891. In 1908 the cornerstone for the school, which cost $125,000, was laid on the site of the first church. The congregation size in 1913 was 4,000. The parish school was founded in 1892.
